SUBMISSIONS FOR 10th JSFF ARE OPEN TO FILMMAKERS

We are thrilled to announce the open call for submissions to the 10th annual Japanese-Serbian Film Festival (JSFF). This year marks a decade of celebrating the theme LASTING, recognizing emerging talent and established professionals on the scene.


We are inviting all Japanese and Serbian productions and co-productions, regardless of nationality, to submit their SHORT FILMS, FEATURE FILMS, ANIMATIONS or J-DRAMAS (one episode per series is also acceptable) for consideration. JSFF has always been committed to promoting cultural exchange through the power of cinema, and we are excited to continue this tradition for another year.


JSFF IS ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FROM MAY 1st - SEPTEMBER 15th

The 10th annual JSFF will take place in November 2023, and we encourage all filmmakers to submit their work before the end of August. Traditionally, submissions are completely FREE OF CHARGE!
ABOUT JSFF

The Japanese-Serbian Film Festival (JSFF) is a bi-city-themed event celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The festival showcases an exciting array of films from both Japan and Serbia, with a focus on promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two countries. JSFF is held annually in both Belgrade and Tokyo, offering an exceptional opportunity for audiences to experience the best of contemporary Japanese and Serbian cinema. The festival has become a significant cultural event and an excellent platform for emerging filmmakers from both countries to showcase their work and connect with international audiences and identifies itself with the following values: quality, fairness, and openness.


THEME: LASTING

Japanese-Serbian Film Festival (JSFF) celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2023, a testament to the lasting impact has made on promoting cultural exchange between the two countries. This year's theme, 'LASTING', challenges filmmakers to explore the concept of persistence, longevity, and time as essential factors in cinema as well in social phenomena.


Through this theme, JSFF seeks to highlight the enduring relationships and cross-cultural collaborations that have emerged from the festival over the years, showcasing how time has shaped and influenced the works of filmmakers from Japan and Serbia. 'LASTING' also honors the contributions of filmmakers whose works have persisted, impacted, and influenced the trends in cinema.

- SHORT FILMS (under 30 minutes) - FEATURE FILMS (over 60 minutes) - ANIMATION (short or feature-length) - J-DRAMA (under 50 minutes per episode)
AWARDS

JSFF2022 PRESENTS NEW SELECTION OF AWARDS Award fund and specific awarding allocation to be announced prior to the event.

JSFF FEATURE ■ BEST JAPANESE FILM ■ BEST SERBIAN FILM Notice: The jury will decide the annual festival's best film from the two.

JSFF SHORTS ■ BEST SHORT FILM ■ BEST JAPANESE SHORT (Serbian Jury Award) ■ BEST SERBIAN SHORT (Japanese Jury Award)

RULES & TERMS

ELIGIBILITY - Country of production or co-production: Japan or Serbia (JSFF NATIVE); - Non-JSFF NATIVE COUNTRIES are able to apply only if the film is co-produced in one of JSFF NATIVE COUNTRIES (Japan or Serbia); - JSFF NATIVE director who made film outside of JSFF NATIVE COUNTRIES is allowed to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS 🗸Feature film Length: Minimum of 60 minutes. 🗸Short film Length: Maximum of 30 minutes. 🗸Genre: All genres 🗸Year of Productions: All movies made after January 1st 2022. 🗸Video format: h.264 (DCP - conditional to venue)
