The 12th Japanese-Serbian Film Festival Officially Opened at the Yugoslav Film Archive

In the ceremonial atmosphere of the Makavejev Hall of the Yugoslav Film Archive, the 12th Japanese-Serbian Film Festival (JSFF) was officially opened last night. The festival is organized by CultCrave in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in Serbia.

This year’s edition carries the theme “THE NEXT,” presenting to the audience six feature films and three short film selections.


The opening ceremony featured welcoming addresses from:

  • Jovan Marković, Assistant Director of the Yugoslav Film Archive for Program Activities

  • H.E. Akira Imamura, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Serbia

  • Jovana Stević, Festival Director

  • Jakša Nikodijević, JSFF Program Director

  • Kazuyuki Kitaki, JSFF Co-Program Director

Following the introductory remarks, the short film “Morning Light – OKINAWA” by director Raura Suzuki was screened as a special introduction to the JSFF program. The evening continued with the feature film “What Did You Eat Yesterday?”, presented by the Embassy of Japan and The Japan Foundation.


On the second day, the festival program continued with short and feature film selections, interspersed with the VODAVODA panel “Obstacles & Opportunities”, dedicated to challenges and possibilities for collaboration and co-production between Serbia and Japan.
